CARE's traditional; therapy is augmented by special programs designed to meet specific needs of CARE's clients and the communities CARE serves.

Aquatics:

Aquatic therapy can be a stand alone or supplemental therapeutic intervention. The body-temperature water can improve circulation, and mobility, especially after surgery. The effects of buoyancy and sensory stimulation can improve balance and range of motion. CARE has a strategic alliance with a local therapeutic pool where classes are conducted year-round twice per week.

"JUMP START":

Jump Start is a new program that offers new parents of infants and toddlers of a similar age, a group environment in which to share experiences, and learn about normal development and ways to facilitate it in their child. Sessions are conducted weekly by our multidisciplinary team of experts over a 3 month span. State-of-the-art infant and toddler research and facilitation techniques such as: sensory-motor activities, yoga, massage, gymnastics, water, music and storytelling are incorporated. Discussion topics vary weekly. Classes are available at various times of the week and on weekends for working parents.

Orthotics:

Many young children and young adults need lower extremity orthotic support for various reasons at certain times in their lives: post-surgery, post trauma, or a result of developmental abnormalities or congenital deformity of both or either feet. CARE therapist who are experts in the design, fabrication and adjustment of such devices can CAREfully assess your child's needs, make molds, help you select materials, style, colors and then CAREfully fit the completed orthotic. CAREfully designed orthotics can make the difference between walking and walking independently for many children.

Weight Management:

CARE's team of highly trained professionals (therapists, counselors, nurses and dieticians) have as their goal helping you and your child succeed by evaluating behaviors, making better food choices, increasing activity levels and building strength, endurance and muscle tone. The individualized programs they design are diverse, FUN, rewarding and reinforced by your child's increased involvement in other community programs. CARE Weight Management program will make a difference for the rest of your child's life. Parent programs are also available. Programs ( individual or group) run for 3 months and are tiered in age level. Childhood diabetics welcome.

Torticollis/ Plagiocephaly:

CARE has highly qualified occupational and physical therapists who specialize in these disorders. Their results (Parents Talk) are outstanding. They understand the physiology and pathology of the diagnoses. They CAREfully evaluate and treat your child with tender CARE. They will work with you to augment any current program and facilitate continuous change through carryover activities geared to your lifestyle. You are guaranteed an appointment for an evaluation within 1 week of your first call.

Intensive NDT/SI Treatment:

Some families at various times in their child's life: early childhood, post surgery, specific learning challenges, autism, growth spurts etc. elect to augment whatever services their child may be receiving via local Infant and Toddler Programs or school services. They choose to use the services of our CAREing therapists backed by an organization with a 24 year history, in the Baltimore community, of successful intervention via short term intensive treatment of young infants and older children with special diagnoses like autism.
